Our core program meets on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This is a drop-off program where students rotate through age-appropriate ACADEMIC classes. The students will be grouped according to grades/abilities. (*Students with disabilities will need to be evaluated before being accepted into this program.)
The goal of our Core Program is to help guide students through academic subjects by providing pacing for the curriculum and some assignments to be completed at home each week. Weekly class time will be hands-on, engaging and allow opportunities for the students to explore and enjoy the class content.
Our Core program utilizes an integrated and thematic learning model using Peaceful Press as the foundation. This curriculum is literature-based and history-rich. Students will explore American history through living books, hands-on projects, timeline work, and rich discussion—allowing them to connect stories of the past to the world around them today. This history emphasis becomes the spine that weaves our subjects together, making learning cohesive, meaningful, and joyful both at home and at Greenhouse. Public speaking will be naturally woven into all subjects through Peaceful Press discussions, presentations, and storytelling
We also utilize IEW for our writing program but expand into a variety of writing styles. Students will experience literary analysis, book reports, poetry, persuasive essays, descriptive writing, and more helping them grow as confident, expressive writers.
For 6th–8th graders, we will add a more formal science program using selected lessons from Apologia that complements Peaceful Press providing a stronger foundation in scientific thinking and preparing students for high school-level science.
Our Core tutors love their subject areas and are subject-matter experts. Parents are still the primary teachers. This means parents may adjust according to their child’s needs. Work will not be graded, but feedback will be provided to help our students grow! We hope you join us this year!
Please Note: The Core program is not all inclusive.
We suggest you add the following subjects to make your child’s learning complete:
• Reading Curriculum (Younger Ages)
• Grammar Curriculum
• Math Curriculum
We are full for the 2025-2026 school year!
